Privacy Policy
Hi, I'm Roy, the developer of Roll. This policy explains what data Roll collects. The short version: it doesn't. Roll has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Your photos and videos are sent directly between phones over local radio and never touch the internet. If anything here is unclear, email me at royogev2@gmail.com.
What Roll collects
Nothing. Roll has no backend. There is no server to send your data to, no account to create, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.
How sharing works
- Peer-to-peer only. When you merge a roll, the photos and videos you choose are sent directly from your phone to the phones of the friends you're connected with, over Apple's Wi-Fi Aware (local radio), encrypted in transit with TLS. They are never uploaded to a server or any cloud.
- Your display name. You type a name once. It is stored only on your device and is shared directly with the people in your roll so they can see who's in the room. It is never sent to a server.
- You choose what's shared. Roll only ever sends the specific photos and videos you pick, to the specific people you're connected with in that session.
What stays on your device
- Your name is saved locally so you don't have to type it each time.
- Past rolls are kept on your device for a short recovery window (and, with Roll Pro, kept until you remove them) so you can re-open and save them. This data lives only on your phone.
- Saving to your camera roll uses the system photo library, with your permission, only to add the merged photos you chose to keep.
What Roll does NOT do
- No accounts, no email collection, no sign-in.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-tracking SDKs.
- No advertising SDKs, no ads, and no use of the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- No location, contacts, calendar, or health data.
- No selling or sharing of data — there is no data to sell.
Payments
If a paid tier (Roll Pro) is offered, purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; Roll never sees or stores your card details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
Your rights
Because Roll stores nothing on a server, there is no remote data to request, export, or delete. To remove the data on your device, delete past rolls inside the app or uninstall the app. Questions or concerns: royogev2@gmail.com.
Children
Roll is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If I change anything material, I'll update the effective date at the top.
